As the subtitle suggests, this blog is inspired by C. Wright Mills and a few others. I can’t reveal much about myself, but politically I am far to left of center on economic issues — the things that affect everyone everyday — and lean conservative on social issues, about which I generally care a good deal less and will rarely, if ever, write about here.
Above all, I believe in representative democracy, and I subordinate every other secular belief I have to that. I would be quite content, for instance, if we had real representative democracy (we don’t) and the people’s will as expressed by their servants in Washington and state houses around the country drove the nation in directions that I personally believed to be unwise.
No snark intended, but I wonder how many out there in the commentariat would say as much in a heartfelt way?
